Cookies are an all-time favourite for kids and adults alike. Who doesn’t like to munch on a box of cookies and sipping in hot tea? These comes in a wide range of flavours and all even loaded with nuts and other condiments. But the plain butter cookie is always a classic. Here is a simple butter cookies recipe that is guaranteed to make you dive back for more than just one piece. Who knew that few simple ingredients like flour, sugar, butter, egg and baking powder can turn into such delicious little nuggets? 

The butter cookies recipe starts with sieving the dry ingredients i.e flour, salt and baking powder into a mixing bowl. In a separate bowl the butter is added and mixed until smooth and creamy. To this one has to add the castor sugar in small amounts all the while mixing the sugar with the butter to make a creamy and light batter. Once this is done the eggs and vanilla essence is added and mixed through the batter as well. The dry ingredients are then slowly added to the prepared butter mixture and gently mixed till it finally forms a firm dough. The dough is then allowed to cool down in refrigerator for at least 4-5 hours or until its completely firm. The dough is then rolled out and cut with the help of cookie cutters into various shapes and sizes. These are then transferred to a baking sheet which has been lightly buttered and placed into an oven which has been preheated to 375°F. They are then allowed to bake for 10-15 minutes till they are perfectly golden in colour. This is then allowed to cool and kept in containers which are air tight and can be stored for quite a few days.
