The ingredients required are as follows:
  1. 1 cup butter
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 egg
  4. 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  5. ¼ teaspoon salt
  6. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
  1. In a large bowl, the butter and white sugar should be creamed together until it is light and fluffy. Following this, beat in the egg, and then stir the vanilla. Thereafter, the flour and salt is to be combined, and stirred into the sugar mixture. Cover the dough, and let it chill for at least one hour. After that, chill cookie sheets. 
  2. The oven should be preheated to 400 degrees F. the dough should be pressed out onto ungreased, chilled cookie sheets. 
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly golden at the edges. Remove cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
